About Dr. Scanlon

Dental workDr. Scanlon combines an exceptional education and extensive clinical experience, with a commitment to community service and dedication to improving her patients’ dental health and well being.

Dr. Scanlon started her dental career as a dental hygienist graduating from Forsyth School for Dental Hygienist in 1970. After working 7 years in both general and periodontal dental practices and completing her Bachelors Degree in Health Science with highest honors from Northeastern University, Dr. Scanlon earned a National Health Service Corp Scholarship to Boston University School of Dental Medicine. She graduated in 1983 with a D.M.D. degree and multiple honors including: Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, the International College of Dentists Achievement Award, the Henry M. Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry Department of Public Health Award, the Mark Wallin and John Cove-Jones Award from the Department of Periodontology and the National Health Service Corp. Scholarship awarded for four years.

From 1983-1988 she directed the Dental Health Center for Providence Ambulatory Health Care Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation serving Providence, RI. She started her private practice in Douglas, MA in 1987.

Dr. Scanlon chooses to remain at the top of her field, therefore she spends countless hours expanding her professional knowledge through continuing education courses. She has completed extensive additional training in cosmetic dentistry,  implant dentistry and management of  TMJ problems, occlusion or bite problems.

Dr. Scanlon is a member of the American Dental Association, The Massachusetts Dental Society, The Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education Alumni Association, as well as several study groups including The Central New England Dental Research Group, The Seattle Study Club Central New England, and the Central Massachusetts Dental Implant Study Group.

Dr. Scanlon is also an advisor to The Blackstone Valley Vocational Technical High School Dental Assistant program and works with interns from both Blackstone Valley and Quinsigamond Community College Dental Assistant programs.
